Bagaimanakah pelajar-pelajar Institusi Pengajian Tinggi memohon untuk menjalani latihan industri di JPAS?
Pelajar-pelajar yang berminat untuk menjalankan latihan industri di jabatan ini hendaklah mengemukakan permohonan secara rasmi melalui Penyelaras Latihan Industri di Institusi masing-masing. Permohonan hendaklah disertakan dengan resume yang lengkap berserta surat iringan. Status permohonan akan dimaklumkan kepada pelajar.
Apakah jenis aktiviti atau projek pembangunan yang memerlukan kajian Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar?
Aktiviti atau projek pembangunan yang memerlukan kajian penilaian alam sekitar disenaraikan di bawah Perintah Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (Aktiviti Yang Ditetapkan) (Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar) 2005.

Apakah perbezaan di antara Laporan Cadangan Langkah-Langkah Kawalan (PMM) dan Laporan Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar (EIA)?
Laporan Cadangan Langkah-Langkah Pengurangan adalah laporan alam sekitar yang diperlukan secara mandatori bagi aktiviti-aktiviti yang ditetapkan di bawah Jadual Pertama, Perintah Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (Aktiviti Yang Ditetapkan) (Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar) 2005. Amnya, aktiviti-aktiviti yang ditetapkan di bawah Jadual ini mempunyai magnitud yang rendah dari segi keluasan dan sensitiviti.
Laporan Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar (EIA) adalah laporan alam sekitar yang diperlukan secara mandatori bagi aktiviti-aktiviti yang ditetapkan di bawah Jadual Kedua, Perintah Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (Aktiviti Yang Ditetapkan) (Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar) 2005. Amnya, aktiviti-aktiviti yang ditetapkan dibawah Jadual ini mempunyai magnitud yang besar dari segi keluasan dan sensitiviti.
Siapakah yang boleh menyediakan sesuatu Laporan Penilaian Kesan Alam Sekitar?
Sesuatu laporan EIA hanya boleh disediakan dan dikemukakan kepada JPAS oleh perunding alam sekitar yang berdaftar dengan JPAS dan mempunyai sijil amalan yang sah. Keperluan pendaftaran perunding alam sekitar ini adalah ditetapkan di bawah Kaedah-Kaedah Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (Pendaftaran Perunding Alam Sekitar) 2005.

Bagaimanakah aduan alam sekitar dikemukakan kepada JPAS?
Sesuatu aduan boleh dikemukakan kepada JPAS melalui telefon, surat, menerusi e-mail kepada mana-mana pegawai jabatan atau ke aduan.jpas@sabah.gov.my ataupun datang sendiri ke pejabat JPAS.
Apakah Program Sekolah Rakan Alam Sekitar (SERASI)?
Program SERASI merupakan satu program perkongsian bijak di antara pelbagai jabatan kerajaan negeri dan persekutuan serta organisasi bukan kerajaan. Program ini telah diperkenalkan pada tahun 2003 dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan tahap kesedaran di kalangan warga sekolah mengenai kepentingan memelihara alam sekitar di sekolah masing-masing. Di samping itu, program ini juga diharap dapat menggalakkan inovasi di kalangan warga sekolah ke arah membentuk persekitaran sekolah yang menitikberatkan pemeliharaan dan pemuliharaan alam sekitar.
Acara kemuncak program ini ialah penyampaian Anugerah SERASI kepada sekolah-sekolah yang terpilih sebagai menghargai dan mengiktiraf usaha gigih sekolah-sekolah berkenaan dalam memupuk dan meningkatkan tahap kesedaran di kalangan warga sekolah mengenai kepentingan menjaga dan mengawal persekitaran sekolah. Penyertaan adalah dibuka kepada semua sekolah rendah dan sekolah menengah kerajaan, bantuan kerajaan dan sekolah swasta di Sabah dan juga Sekolah Menengah Agama Negeri serta Maktab Sains MARA.
How can students from higher institutions apply for internship in EPD?
Students who are interested in applying for internship in EPD may formally submit their application through their respective training coordinator. The application shall consist of a formal letter along with the student’s full resume. The student will then be notified regarding the status of their application.
What type of activity or development project that requires environmental impact assessment study?
The type of activity or development project that requires environmental impact assessment study are listed under the Environment Protection (Prescribed Activities) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Order 2005.

What is the difference between Proposal for Mitigation Measures (PMM) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report?
A Proposal for Mitigation Measures (PMM) report comprises of a proposal or series of proposals which provide a description of the likely environmental impacts of a development activity listed under the First Schedule, Environment Protection (Prescribed Activities) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Order 2005. The prescribed activities requiring such report are normally of low magnitude in terms of area and sensitivity.
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report comprises of a report or series of reports which provide a detailed assessment in quantitative terms wherever possible, and in qualitative terms of the likely environmental impacts of a development activity listed under the Second Schedule, Environment Protection (Prescribed Activities) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Order 2005. The prescribed activities requiring such report are normally of high magnitude in terms of area and sensitivity.
Who can prepare the Proposal Mitigation Measures (PMM) or Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report?
The PMM and EIA Report can only be prepared and submitted to EPD by environment consultant registered with EPD and have a valid certificate of practice. The requirement for registration of the environmental consultant are stated under the Environment Protection (Registration of Environmental Consultants) Rules 2005.

How do we address our complaints to EPD?
Complaints can be addressed to EPD via telephone call or letter to any officer in the department. Alternatively, you can also send your complaints through email to aduan.jpas@sabah.gov.my or come in person to EPD office.
What is Sekolah Rakan Alam Sekitar (SERASI) Programme?
The SERASI Programme is a smart partnership programmes between various State and Federal governmental organisations, along with other non-governmental organisations. This programme was introduced in 2003 with the aim of increasing the level of awareness amongst school communities on the importance of environmental protection and conservation at their own school. Additionally, this programmes was also introduced to encourage innovation amongst the school communities towards developing a school environment that emphasizes the protection and conservation of the environment.
The peak of the programme is the SERASI award ceremony which is held to acknowledge the great efforts that have been shown by the various participating schools in cultivating and increasing the level of awareness amongst their school community on the importance of protecting and preserving the school’s environment. Participation in this programme is open to all governmental, government-supported, private primary and secondary schools, as well as all State religious secondary school and Maktab Sains MARA.
