KOTA KINABALU, 07 August 2021 (Daily Express): The State Environment Protection Department (EPD) in collaboration with the State Education Department, State Wildlife Department, Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Society, Reef Check Malaysia and Pacos Trust held a two-day Virtual Environmental Education (EE) Race here.
The programme, held via Zoom on Monday and Wednesday (Aug 2 and 4), involved teachers of primary and secondary schools here and Penampang.
According to a statement Thursday, the Virtual EE Race programme this year is meant to enhance the knowledge of school teachers on various environmental issues, apart from encouraging them to give emphasis on environmental education programmes in school, including outside the school, as well as create a network between teachers and organisations.
The participants were exposed to several environmental management themes like wildlife management, marine ecosystem management initiative and effort to document traditional knowledge and given a task to prepare a Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) Plan based on the themes learned through the EE Race programme.
The EE Race programme this time around was participated by 50 people composed of teachers and facilitators from various organisations, said the statement.
The EE Race programme previously involved many hands-on activities and visits to various environmental management-related locations.
However, this time, the programme was held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
